An Ongoing problem - Do you know what they are teaching YOUR children?
"California schools are pushing an unbalanced religious agenda that favors Islam and minimizes Christianity and Judaism," Accuracy in Academia warns in its latest Campus Report.
Christianity isn't given equal time, either. It's covered in just two days - as opposed to up to two weeks for Islam - and doesn't involve kids in any role-playing activities like the Islam unit.
Multiculturalism: California's educrats have put out new rules for teaching Islamic studies to seventh-graders in public schools, and they are as biased as ever. They'll also likely spread eastward.
The lesson guidelines adopted by the bellwether state whitewash the violence and oppression of women codified in Islamic law, or Shariah. And they're loaded with revisionist history about the faith.
For example, the suggested framework glorifies Shariah as a liberal reform movement that "rejected" the mistreatment of women that existed in Arabia before Muhammad and his successors conquered the region, according to Accuracy in Academia. The guidelines claim that Islamic law established for the first time that men and women were entitled to equal "respect."
Not so, says Islamic scholar and author Nonie Darwish, who grew up Muslim in Egypt.
"I am shocked that that is what they teach," she said. "Women had more rights in Arabia before Shariah."

In fact, "wife beating is allowed under Shariah" today, she added. "It allows a woman seen without a headdress to be flogged, punishes rape victims, and calls for beheading for adultery."
[If Islam is to be "taught" in the public school system, then perhaps they need to teach the whole truth. According to sources such as the BBC, Amnesty International and the United Nations:
"at least 1,000 women stoned to death over the past 15 years in countries such as Iran, Nigeria, Somalia, Sudan, Iraq, United Arab Emirates, Afghanistan, and Pakistan.
In 2008, a 13-year-old Somali girl was stoned by 50 men in a football stadium in front of a crowd of 1,000 spectators. According to BBC reports, the mob buried her up to her shoulders while she begged for her life, pleading "don't kill me, don't kill me." Eleven people in Iran, nine of them women, were waiting to be stoned to death for adultery last year, according to Amnesty International. The United Nations estimates that 5,000 women each year become victims of "honor crimes" in which family members kill a woman who has allegedly brought dishonor on them."
Of course, this might be a bit stressful for the 7th grade classroom, on the other hand, since little girls as young as 9 years old are given or sold as "brides" to old men, then perhaps 7th grade isn't too young for them to learn about the joys of Islam.
California's course on world religions also omits Islam's long history of jihadist violence, while portraying Christianity as an intolerant and bloodthirsty faith....
You can't teach the Ten Commandments in public schools. But teaching the five pillars of Islam is A-OK.
Here are the questions: Do you want your children being taught more information on one religion, instead of the other – even if it’s for a short amount of time?
Is it really THAT big of a deal?
Or should we just do away with ALL religious teachings in our school systems?

When you elect officials who are extreme political correct liberals this is what you get. The foundations of the country will be tossed in the garbage for the teachings that endorse the beating of a women for wearing pants. Stop the insane PC school teachings from public school top college.
Does anyone remember separation of church and state?
1Public schools teaching religion? This I have to see. Thanks for the heads up. I'm going to be making some phone calls and if I find school district that's doing it I'll be making a fuss.
2Religion has no place in school. If you want religion in school then go to a religious based school. I ask...why is it okay to teach Islam? Who said this was okay?
I throw a fit if they watch a Disney video instead of using that time as study hall----so what makes them think I'd be okay with this?
Heck...I was one of those moms out in front of the school handing out forms that told parents about the Obama love fest and encouraging them to keep their kids home..call and tell your principal your kid won't be there.
So...it was not shown at any school in our district. They wanted that money for having hineys in their seats.
Knowing this...don't think I won't bring it up in PTA. I am NOT okay with this.
3Holy crap.

5like i said in another post. keep it out of school!
6I think it is appropriate to offer a class that discusses religion as a philosophy. Don't make it mandatory, but as an elective. But it should cover all religions equally: christianity, judaism, islam, buddhism, and every other religion. I had one philosophy class in high school and all it did was talk about the religions of the world. I don't think christianity or islam should be warranted more attention. If you don't at least offer a class that covers the major religions of the world (even atheism - which counters religion), then how can we expect our kids to grow up tolerant of other people's religions views, especially if they are growing up in a singular religious household.
That said, I don't agree with the way that California is handling this though.
7since we were born with free will, i say give them information on all religion and let them make their choice. because we all serve the same god,at least the ones who have made their choice, he's just known by different names in different religions.
8Religion should be left out of school. It's not up to them to be teaching in dept about a certain religion. And if they do then one religion should NOT be considered as more important than the other, or worse than another.
9Religions should always be a choice. It should never be forced on anyone.
